Country Cottage A Tea Garden Resort (Palampur)

I went to palampur for a short holiday and stayed at a place called COUNTRY COTTAGE, a beautiful place in himachal in distt kangra, by road its about 525 kms frm delhi, by train nearest station is pathankot from where a toy train also goes there, we went from shatabdi till jalandhar then we took cabs to reach the place which took us around 5 hrs, the beauty of the place is that it is a tea estate of 85 acres which has only 5 cottages scattered around, every cottage has a different view, the place is covered all around with dhauladhar range of snow covered mountains, the way to the place is also very good as it is away from the crowded market place and is near cantt. area, there’s a small river let passing near this where one can go and relax by putting their feet in ice cold water, nearby places to visit are dharamshala where a days trip can be made visiting mcloedganj also, the other different thing about this place is that it is run by the owners of the tea estate and the food served is cooked at their home kitchen only which is very good, average rates per person can cost around 3-4k per family with meals, their website is countrycottageindia.com

Some quick reviews

I have explored this place this time when i was in shimla. Its near summer hill. A complete jungle drive with pine trees. Within the jungle this potter camp is created where you have facility to stay in cottages or tree house or tent. You can enjoy barbeques in open jungle. This place is away from hustle bustle and you are in the jungle with cold weather. You would enjoy this place if you are in group. You also have hammocks in lapse of nature where you can relax, read novel or just be lying watching sky and hearing different sounds of nature.

i personally liked this place and would recommend to people who always opt for corbett for getaways.

Potters Hill Adventure Camp is a twelve-month destination. In springs, the place blossoms with Rhododendrons (flower of the Himalayas), while summers still have bonfire at night. In autumn, nature prepares for the cold & the site turns honey yellow, while in winters, you can see and touch snow.

At Camp Potters Hill, the idea is to enjoy a combination of Eco-Tourism, Adventure Tourism & Leisure Camping.

you can enjoy Day & Night Treks, Indoor games like Carrom, Chess, Scrabble & many more Outdoor games like Cricket, Basketball, Throwball, Volleyball & Badminton, Picnic lunches in the forest, meadows & apple orchards Rock Climbing & Rappeling, Burma Bridge, Commando Rope Walk & Valley Crossing.

Munsiyari (Pithoragarh District), Unexplored Uttrakhand

Munsiyari is a tucked away little tehsil in the Pithoragarh District (Uttarakhand) and is considered to be the base for many intense treks of the Himalayas. The name literally means “place with snow” and is surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains. The hill station located on the banks of river Goriganga is fast becoming a wanted tourist destination for mountaineers, trekkers, glacier photographers & of course nature lovers. This isn’t exactly the kinds where you’ll want to head over the weekend but it IS a place to visit before you visit any other destination as such distance (650 kms from Delhi). The treks will offer you beautiful views of Panchhuli snowfields. Since it is etched in the inner lines of Himalayan range (between borders of China, Nepal & India), the access is restricted. The place is generally chilly all year round because of its height – 12,000 ft. +. This place is still undiscovered & except for the Monsoons, any time is good to visit.

V Resort Sattal, Surya Gaon | Sattal Lake, Nainital

“Winter Trip to V Resorts Sattal”We just decided to explore hills in winters for the first time and happen to explore Vresorts sattal. We decided to have a small weekend break in sattal, we drove from noida to sattal and it took us to reach 7hours.

Finally we reached Sattal lake and from there we were received by Vresorts jeep. it was 5 min hilltop drive from lake to the resort. You can't drive if you dont have 4 wheel drive.

Finally we reached V resort Sattal and to our surprise, it was a beautiful resort all landscaped with forest, facing 7 lakes. The whole resort has beautiful landscapes, big lawns and all green.

Even the resort interiors are done with taste and elegance. As we reached around 3:00 we decided to have our lunch and then explore our room on the first floor Deodar cottage.

To our surprise we were treated to a sumptuous and lavish lunch. We just enjoyed the food to our fullest and then we moved up to our room. Rooms were big and well furnished. all rooms on this floor had big balcony facing lake. We enjoyed our room view.

bathrooms were cosy as the direct sunlight peeps in from early morning to evening. The rooms had electric blankets which made the winter nights more enjoyable.

we had good time exploring the property and the views around. The food is awesome, Manager francis is nice gentleman, staff is very cooperative and offers excellent service. You can enjoy your breakfast in warm sunlight, you can laze around throughout the day in the lawn, also you can play with badminton.

in evenings we used to enjoy sigri in our balcony with drinks, fresh salads and barbeque. All meals were excellent and very well cooked, when you come here you should take all 3 meals as there is not much of the options around to eat.

The best way to explore the place is to take nature walk around the jungle. And just laze and enjoy nature to fullest.

Sattal has nothing to offer apart from beautiful nature views. Its best to come in winters and preferably in group so that you can enjoy the property to the fullest.

if you are 3 family, then recommend you to go for taruvar cottage.

We loved our stay away from maddening crowd. And opening your eyes from bed to beautiful mountains and that too in cosy beds is just awesome.

Completely recommend this place.

Sigri, A Small Village located in the Nainital

Sigri, is a small unexplored village in Nanital with just 172 total population. 16 kilometers from Nainital, the drive takes only 30 minutes to get there. The entire drive is through the forested area of China Peak Range via Snow View Point and Kilbury, the main habitats for excellent birding.

One can see a variety of Himalayan species along the way such as lammergeier, Himalayan griffon, blue-winged minla, spotted & slaty-backed forktail, rufous-bellied woodpecker, rufous-bellied niltava, khalij pheasant, variety of thrushes etc. Almost 150 bird species have been recorded at Sigri and surrounding areas. The Nest Cottages, Kilbury Road, | District Nainital, Pangot

“Explore the unexplored peace with undisturbed, serene with valleys, forest”I had a wonderful time with my family at Nest Cottages. That was the best decision to take a break from stressful life and hustle bustle of city and away from commercialised hills which are the only options we think of when we think of hills.

If you are someone who love serenity, who love hills and jungles and who just don;t want so much crowd but just undisturbed peace in hills then Pangot is a best hill station to explore. This place is still untouched and has its own charm, and Nest Cottages just added the comfort to that charm.

They are beautiful cottages with huge balconies to sit and gaze at nature and feel the cool breeze and hear the chirps of birds. Its a real experience with nature. Cottages are well maintained, services are excellent, food is just what you can ask for.

Its like a homestay, where every staff makes you feel at home and the food is just like home but the only difference you will enjoy more as you would not be rushing for work and have no time to enjoy ur meals. I would recoomend if you come here you take the MAP plan which includes your tea, breakfast and one meal.

Nest Cottage Kitchen has a beautiful concept of ask what you want. There are no menus. You just need to tell the head of Kitchen Mr. Bhagwat Ji who is just a super hero @Nest. He will cook for you with his full heart and i must tell you he cooks really good. Since i am foodie and i can completely recommend his food anytime. @Nest you can ask for whatever you want to eat just that you need to tell them on time and they will arrange and cook as per your need and as per your taste. We had a wonderful time eating there. We tried from Poha, Cutlets, Omlettes, paranthas, Fruits, Poori Sabzi to Bindi, Gobhi, Palak, Soups, Kheer, Chinese, Indian, Fresh Salads and what not. And everything cooked was just awesome and a wonderful presentation to ask for in such a remote place.

Once you are here, you will never forget to mention Bhagwat Ji for his speciality in cooking style. He cooks good and he treats you good.

Apart from that cottages are really good. We stayed in Cottage 1,2 and 3 and they were beautifully located facing hills and jungles. Though monkeys could be quiet irritating in morning but nevertheless when you want to be part of nature then you need to love all this.

We had beautiful evenings in balcony which we chilled out with drinks and snacks though you need to carry your own drinks as they don;t serve any drinks. But you can ask them for snacks and services, they would do whole heartedly.

Yeah last but not least Nest is an eco friendly place, so they don't serve any non veg so if you are a non vegetarian then you might miss that here but i still would say being a non vegetarian we didnt miss the non veg apart from our first day. You would feel content with Bhagwatji's cooking skills. And if still u miss that, then you can always drive down to nanital which is just 45min drive and enjoy the mall road and the non veg at Boatclub.

Overall the place is nice, very beautifully located with no phone signals, no tvs just you with nature.

Enjoy!Room Tip: Ask for cottage 1,2, 3 or 4
